Once vibrant with the sounds of harmoniums and tablas, Cox’s Bazar is now witnessing the gradual disappearance of its traditional musical instruments under the influence of modern sound technology. Artisans who once thrived making and repairing these instruments are now struggling to survive. With declining demand, many have left the profession searching for alternative livelihoods. Others, like Samiran Barua and Parimal Ghosh, continue to hold on—driven not by profit, but by passion and a desire to preserve a fading cultural heritage. These photos were taken from the Gol Dighi Par in Cox’s Bazar.
