With no further risk of squally weather, the local cautionary signal No. 3 has been withdrawn from the country’s seaports, including Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra.

Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, confirmed the development at around 4 pm on Wednesday (August 20).

He said the warning was lifted as the likelihood of strong winds over the North Bay and Bangladesh’s coastal areas had subsided.

Cox’s Bazar has since experienced a day of normal weather. Although clouds lingered in the sky, no rainfall was recorded.

Favourable conditions have brought tourists back to the seashore, with a visible rise in footfall.

Red flags, however, continue to be hoisted along the beach as a precaution.

Tourist police and lifeguard teams continue to monitor the area, advising visitors not to venture into deep waters.

Local traders say the improvement in weather is already breathing new life into the tourism sector, as businesses see visitors returning after days of uncertainty.
