A strategy exchange workshop was held to develop inclusive communication materials as part of the Inclusive Cities for Nutrition Project. The event took place on Monday (June 2) at a star-rated hotel’s conference room in the Kalatali area of Cox’s Bazar.
Organized by Inclusive Cities for Nutrition (IC4N) with funding from the City of Zurich, the project is being implemented in partnership with Cox’s Bazar Municipality through the non-governmental organization, Pratyashi, with technical support from Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation. The workshop included detailed discussions on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ensuring hygiene and food safety standards in vegetables, fruits, fish, poultry, and meat.
The event’s chief guest was Sujay Pal, District Fisheries Officer. Other notable attendees included Mayaz Pramanik, Executive Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering, and Abdur Rahim, Sanitary Inspector of Cox’s Bazar Municipality. Also present were IC4N Project Manager Mazharul Islam, Mill Officer Eli Dhar, Project Coordinator Tahmina Akter Setu, and Project Officer Shaheen Afroze Bipasha.
It was highlighted during the workshop that Cox’s Bazar Municipality is the first in the country to develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines focusing on hygiene and food safety standards for vegetables, fruits, fish, poultry, and meat. Implementation of these guidelines is scheduled to begin this month (June) in areas under the municipality’s jurisdiction, encompassing the transportation, processing, storage, and distribution stages.
