Despite a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal causing rough seas, tourists in Cox’s Bazar are seen reveling in joy as massive waves crash onto the shore. Local beach vendors claim these are some of the highest waves of the year. With the sea roaring under the influence of the depression, the shoreline has become a place of excitement and thrill for many visitors.

Tourist police are repeatedly announcing safety instructions via loudspeakers, urging beachgoers to stay safe. However, many tourists seem undeterred by the warnings and are seen enjoying themselves, immersed in sheer joy.

Due to the turbulent sea, swimming has been restricted, especially during the ongoing monsoon season when the risks are higher. But some enthusiastic tourists are entering the water, disregarding instructions from lifeguards and the tourist police, making crowd control a challenge for the authorities.

Md. Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, reports that the signal No. 3 warning has been withdrawn, but rain forecasts are still in effect. In the past 24 hours, Cox’s Bazar has recorded 47 millimeters of rainfall, which has kept the sea in a turbulent state. All fishing trawlers have been advised to remain in safe harbours until further notice.
