A two-day training-of-trainers workshop on implementing the Family Card programme in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban began in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday, with officials being urged to ensure accurate collection and verification of information from potential beneficiaries.
The workshop, organised by the district administration and District Social Services Office, began at the conference room of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner’s Office in the morning.
The training focuses on collecting, verifying, and screening information accurately through door-to-door visits for distributing Family Cards.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Abdur Mannan inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
Addressing the event, Mannan said the government had been providing various social protection assistance programmes to improve the living standards of disadvantaged, poor and low-income people and to ensure full implementation of social safety-net programmes.
He said the Family Card distribution programme was an important government initiative aimed particularly at helping women become self-reliant.
“Accurate information collection must be given priority for the proper implementation of this programme,” he said.
The deputy commissioner said trainers’ responsibilities should not be limited to receiving or providing training. They would also have an important role in ensuring the smooth implementation of Family Card distribution at the field level, he said.
District Social Services Office Deputy Director Mohammad Shahi Newaz presided over the programme. Bandarban District Social Services Office Deputy Director Milton Murhuri was also present.
In his speech, Shahi Newaz said the Family Card programme was one of the government’s priority projects and that accurate information collection was the foundation for its proper implementation.
He said the workshop had been organised to provide appropriate training to officials involved in the process.
Twenty-two officials from different government offices, along with upazila social services officers from Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban, are participating in the two-day training.
The sessions cover identifying potential beneficiaries, collecting and verifying information, data collection, database preparation and proper data preservation.
