Cox’s Bazar Government College organized a special tree plantation campaign on Wednesday (October 15) as part of an environmental awareness initiative. The program was formally inaugurated by the college’s principal, Professor Mohang Amirul Anwar Chowdhury, who planted a sapling to mark the beginning of the campaign.

A total of 55 members of the college’s Rover Scout Unit and 15 cadets of the BNCC participated in the initiative. Together, they planted around 160 saplings of forest, fruit-bearing, and medicinal trees at various spots across the campus.

In his address as the chief guest, Principal Professor Amirul Anwar Chowdhury said, “To overcome the adverse impacts of climate change, we must all take part in tree plantation activities. Planting trees is also crucial to prevent environmental degradation. I urge every student to plant at least one tree.”

The event was presided over by Professor Rezaul Karim Md. Tarek, convener of the Campus Beautification Committee and Head of the Department of Botany. Among others present were Teachers’ Council Secretary Mohammad Ullah, Head of the Department of Bangla Mominul Ahsan, Rover Scout Secretary Madhuchanda Dewanji, Assistant Professor of History Jahangir Alam, Lecturer of Botany Ruma Rani Shil, Librarian Nargis Fatema, and Physical Education Teacher and Rover Scout Unit Leader Abbas Uddin.

Through this campaign, participants expressed their commitment to building a greener campus and enhancing environmental awareness among students.
