A two-day Mobile Journalism (MoJo) training workshop concluded on Thursday (27 November) in Pekua, aiming to enhance local journalists’ skills.

Organised by Pekua Press Club and the fortnightly publication Pekua, the workshop was held at the Shaheed Wasim Seminar Hall of Pekua Upazila Health Complex. Cox’s Bazar Press Club President Mahabubur Rahman attended the closing session as the chief guest.

In his remarks, he said such initiatives would significantly enhance journalists’ professional capabilities in Cox’s Bazar.
“Journalism has evolved with time, and mobile journalism has emerged as a powerful and relevant medium in today’s news industry,” he added.

Presided over by Pekua Press Club President Safwanul Karim, the event was attended by Cox’s Bazar Press Club General Secretary Momtaz Uddin Bahari, Public Prosecutor of Cox’s Bazar Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Advocate Mir Mosharraf Hossain Titu, NTV District Correspondent Ikram Hossain Tipu, ATN Bangla District Correspondent Moazzem Hossain Shakil, Pekua Press Club General Secretary M. Abdullah Ansari, Bangladesh Betar’s District Representative FM Sumon, and Daily Kalbela’s Pekua Representative Delwar Hossein, among others.

The workshop featured Now TV Chattogram Bureau Chief Hossain Mohammad Ziad and C-Plus TV Head of News Forhad Sikder as trainers.

Speakers at the programme highlighted the growing significance of mobile journalism and the expanding reach of digital platforms.
They pointed out that traditional cameras are no longer the only tools used in journalism—smartphones have emerged as a crucial tool for newsgathering globally. Many international media outlets are now prioritising mobile journalism, they said, predicting a bright future ahead for MoJo reporters.

A total of 30 journalists from Pekua, Chakaria, and Kutubdia participated in the training workshop.
