A delegation from the United States Congress visited several Rohingya camps in Ukhiya to observe ongoing development initiatives being implemented for both the displaced Rohingya population and the local host communities.

On Tuesday, the delegation inspected the progress of various humanitarian and infrastructural projects. These include disease outbreak treatment centers, mental health services, LPG distribution, water and sanitation systems, environmental sustainability efforts, and projects aimed at assessing the impact of displacement.

During their visit to Camp 20 Extension, the delegates reviewed health facilities focused on communicable diseases and psychosocial care, as well as clean energy and sanitation projects. They then toured Camp 8W to observe the Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre and the fire-resistant shelter initiative. In Camp 9, they visited the World Food Programme’s food distribution center and UNICEF’s nutrition support unit.

The delegation included Piatt, Legislative Director to the US Congress, along with other officials. Their visit underscores the continued US interest in supporting humanitarian responses and sustainable development in the context of the Rohingya crisis.
