Twelve Rohingyas were detained from the Cox’s Bazar sea beach during an operation carried out by the district administration on Friday (April 18).

The operation took place in the afternoon at the Kolatoli Point of the beach, confirmed Executive Magistrate Nafis Intesar Nafi of the district administration’s tourism cell.

According to the magistrate, the Rohingyas had left their designated refugee camps and were found roaming around the beach. Acting on a tip-off, authorities detained them from the area.

“We maintain constant surveillance to ensure that Rohingyas do not leave the camps and visit tourist spots like the beach,” he said.

Following coordination with the Camp-in-Charge (CiC), the detained individuals were safely returned to their camps.
