The intense heatwave that gripped Cox’s Bazar over the past week has eased slightly, bringing relief to both locals and tourists in the popular coastal town.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, Tuesday’s maximum temperature was 35.6°C with a relative humidity of 56%. This is a drop from Monday’s 36°C and Sunday’s scorching 36.8°C, the highest temperature recorded in the district this year, with 53% humidity.
For the past week, temperatures hovering above 36°C had made daily life challenging for residents, while beachgoers and tourists sought shade and hydration to cope with the heat.
Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Met Office noted,
“Today’s slightly lower temperature is part of a normal seasonal variation. However, the heat may persist for a few more days.”
Despite the high temperatures, the tourism industry in Cox’s Bazar remains active, though the changing weather conditions have slightly affected tourist mobility during peak sun hours. Nonetheless, the recent dip in temperature has brought a much-needed breath of fresh air to the beach town.
