A three-day training workshop on multimedia journalism has kicked off in Cox’s Bazar, aiming to enhance the skills of local journalists.
The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), in collaboration with the Cox’s Bazar Journalists’ Union, organized the training, which began at 9 AM on Friday at the District Council’s conference hall.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin inaugurated the program as the chief guest. At the same time, Obaidur Rahman Shaheen—acting President of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and a member of PIB’s Board of Directors—presided over the event.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that the training would significantly improve the participants’ journalistic expertise, saying, “This multimedia journalism training will help local journalists broaden their experience and sharpen their professional skills.”
Presiding over the session, Obaidur Rahman Shaheen said, “Multimedia journalism is the modern face of journalism. It has made it easier to deliver news to the people in more engaging and effective ways.”
Speakers expressed their confidence that participating journalists would be able to produce more transparent, professional, and objective multimedia reports upon completion of the training.
Among those present were Mahbubur Rahman, President of Cox’s Bazar Press Club; journalist leaders Nurul Islam Helali, Shamsul Haque Sharek, Mahbubur Rahman, Ansar Hossain, and others.
