A massive Burmese python, a rare and endangered species, was rescued from the Killamora Baganpara area of Rajapalong Union in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, by the Forest Department and later released into a remote forest area.

According to officials, the python measured approximately 14 feet in length and weighed around 25 kilograms.

Imdadul Islam, Beat Officer of the Forest Department’s Chhochhori Beat, confirmed that the rescued snake is a Burmese python, a non-venomous species that poses no threat to humans. “In fact, it plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance,” he said. “Since the snake was in good health, it was safely released into a suitable natural habitat.”

Forest officials also emphasized that the Burmese python is currently listed as an endangered species, making its protection and survival in the wild crucial for preserving biodiversity.
