After a week of relentless rain, the sun finally returned to Cox’s Bazar, bringing with it a rise in temperatures across the coastal district.

Triggered by an active southwest monsoon, Cox’s Bazar experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 3 to July 9. According to Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the district recorded 787 millimetres of rainfall between July 1 and 12 PM on July 9, leaving the region severely waterlogged.

The continuous downpour and hill runoff led to flooding in at least 40 villages in Teknaf upazila. However, with no rain throughout the day today, floodwaters have started to recede in the inundated villages across various upazilas in Cox’s Bazar.
