A low-pressure system has developed in the North Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas, leading to the issuance of Local Warning Signal No. 3 for four of the country’s maritime ports.

The system is expected to intensify, causing a significant variation in atmospheric pressure in the region. As a result, gusty winds or squally conditions may prevail across the northern Bay of Bengal, the coastal areas of Bangladesh, and the seaports.

This weather warning, issued by the Meteorological Department on Thursday morning (July 24), has prompted the authorities to advise the ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to display the 3 Local Warning Signal.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been instructed to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further instructions are provided.

According to Meteorologist AKM thunderstorms are expected in many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, while some areas of Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions may experience moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
