Cox’s Bazar’s Amiyo Chakraborty Gopal shines in ‘Notun Kuri 2025’

Cox’s Bazar’s young talent, Amiyo Chakraborty Gopal, has made it to the top ten of “Notun Kuri 2025,” Bangladesh Television’s iconic competition for children and teenagers. With his melodic voice and musical finesse, Gopal has already won the hearts of judges and audiences alike.

Originally from Kutubdia upazila, Gopal now lives in Moheshkhali, where his mother works as a primary school teacher. His mother, Dolonchapa Bhattacharjee, is not only an educator but also a well-known singer in the local music scene.

It was under her guidance that Gopal began his musical journey, growing up surrounded by rhythm, melody, and his mother’s passion for music.

In Moheshkhali’s cultural circles, Dolonchapa Bhattacharjee is a respected name — a familiar face in organizations like Udichi and other cultural platforms. She is admired both as a teacher and a singer, and stands as the most significant source of inspiration behind her son’s musical path.

Gopal’s father, Surajit Chakraborty, also a primary school teacher in Kutubdia, told The Chittagong Tribune:

“All credit goes to his mother. Her encouragement and dedication have brought Gopal this far. Please keep us in your prayers.”

At the divisional level of Notun Kuri 2025, Gopal secured first place in three categories — patriotic song, Nazrul song, and folk song — earning him a place in the national round.

There, too, he performed brilliantly, ranking among the top five in both patriotic and Nazrul song categories.

The final selection round concluded last Tuesday. In this phase, the top ten scorers from each category compete for the overall best position, with multiple participants advancing in the event of tied scores.

The top-ten round, which began on October 24, will continue until October 29. According to the judges, this year’s participants have once again impressed everyone with their exceptional performances. From among them, the next generation of musical stars will emerge.
