Despite the absence of a weekly holiday or public holiday, the number of visitors to Cox’s Bazar sea beach has increased.

At the same time, the beach remains noticeably calm during the winter season, with its blue waters continuing to captivate tourists.

Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the shoreline, indicating that sea bathing is currently safe.

Due to the slightly cold weather, fewer people are entering the water in the morning. However, as soon as the sun comes out, tourists are seen enjoying the salty waves.

Most visitors are bathing at three main points — Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha.

For safety reasons, the Sea Safe Lifeguard authorities have urged beachgoers to follow several guidelines.

According to the lifeguards, designated bathing zones have been clearly marked at these three points, where lifeguard services are available.

These areas are demarcated with red-and-yellow flags or red flags. Bathing outside the marked zones can be dangerous, they warned.

Sea Safe Lifeguard supervisor and senior lifeguard Mohammad Osman Gani told Cox’s Bazar Life, “The sea is currently quite calm due to the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted. However, to avoid danger, we advise tourists to bathe only within the designated areas at the three points where lifeguard services are present.”

He also said that low tide will occur at 12:46pm today (Thursday, January 29), while high tide is expected to begin from 7:30pm.

Authorities cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguards’ instructions and entering the sea could lead to serious accidents at any time.
