A striking natural scene is visible across the Pechar Dwip and Kakra Beach areas along the Marine Drive road in Cox’s Bazar. Hundreds of red crabs moving together across the sandy shoreline have created a living natural panorama, drawing the attention of tourists and nature lovers.
The scene, captured recently by photojournalist Hussain Shetu, shows the crabs rapidly moving across the sand in groups. At the slightest sound or human presence, they quickly retreat into their burrows, making the moment even more dynamic and fascinating.
Local fisherman Gafur noted that the crabs typically appear in the morning and late afternoon. As the sun’s intensity decreases, they come out of their holes in groups to search for food. Their movement becomes especially active during tidal changes.
Nature enthusiasts say these red crabs are an important part of the coastal ecosystem. They help maintain soil quality in sandy areas and help balance the marine environment.
The scenic beauty has been attracting increasing numbers of local visitors and tourists to Pechar Dwip and Crabs Beach. Many visitors capture photos and videos of this rare natural display.
Locals emphasize the need to preserve such unique natural habitats. Visitors are being urged to avoid disturbing the crabs or damaging their environment, ensuring their natural movement remains uninterrupted.
