Tourist numbers have increased at the Cox’s Bazar sea beach during the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday.

The areas of Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni Point in Cox’s Bazar have been crowded with thousands of visitors.

However, the intense heat has caused discomfort for many tourists. A large number of visitors seek relief from the scorching weather by entering the seawater. Others are resting under shaded beach chairs with umbrellas, while some are enjoying jet ski rides and beach biking.

A tourist from Dhaka, Rashed Mahmud, said, “The heat is intense, but it doesn’t feel the same once you get into the sea. I’m thoroughly enjoying spending time in the waves.”

Another visitor, Nusrat Jahan from Chattogram, said, “We came here with friends. Despite the heat, the atmosphere is lively. I enjoyed the jet ski ride the most.”

Members of the Sea Safe Lifeguard team said that tourist numbers had decreased earlier but have now increased again during the weekly holidays. Lifeguards are actively monitoring the water to prevent accidents and ensure visitor safety.

Meanwhile, Md. Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at the local weather office, said that April is typically a hot month.

Over the past week, temperatures in Cox’s Bazar have ranged between 32°C and 34°C, but high humidity has made the heat feel even more intense.

Despite the extreme weather, the holiday rush and attraction of the sea continue to keep Cox’s Bazar busy with tourists.
