In the calm waters of Reju Khal in Cox’s Bazar, 45-year-old Khadija Begum casts her net, hoping for a good catch of small prawns. “When the tide from the sea flows into the nearby canals, prawns often find their way here,” she explains. “As soon as the tide recedes and the water levels drop, many locals, including me, come with our nets to try our luck.” Her tone reflects a blend of optimism and uncertainty. “Sometimes we get enough to meet our needs, but there are days when the catch is disappointing,” she added.
