As December, the month of victory, unfolds, the streets of Cox’s Bazar come alive with the colors of the national flag. Mohammad Babul, a flag vendor, roams the town carrying flags of various sizes. “The demand for flags peaks in December, especially leading up to the 16th,” he shared. Along the scenic Marine Drive Road, national flags flutter proudly atop resorts and cafés, including the iconic Mermaid Café. Auto-rickshaw driver Mohammad Faruk has also joined the celebration by fastening a flag to his vehicle. “I bought the flag out of love for my country,” he said with pride.
