Cox’s Bazar City College celebrated International Right to Information Day 2025 on Sunday with a rally, information fair, and discussion session.

The day-long program was organized by the research organization Research Initiative Bangladesh (RIB), supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

The event began with a colorful rally that paraded around the college premises. College Principal Professor S.M. Akhtar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the information fair. In his opening remarks, he said, “Ensuring the right to information strengthens transparency and accountability in government activities. Students must be aware of this right to build a responsible citizenry.”

Following the rally, a discussion session was held at the college auditorium, where Principal Professor Akhtar Uddin Chowdhury served as the chief guest.

Ashish Chandra Pal, Youth Development Officer of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila, attended as a special guest, along with several college teachers who also joined the discussion.

RIB’s Cox’s Bazar District Coordinator, Saiful Islam, said, “We have been working to ensure transparency and accountability in both government and private institutions. The right to information is one of the core pillars of a democratic society.”

Teachers and a large number of students participated in the day’s events, which concluded with a quiz competition among the participants.
