Adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government for housing and public works, industries, and local government, rural development, and cooperatives, Adilur Rahman Khan, on Saturday, inspected a rainwater reservoir built in Palangkhali union of Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar, aimed at strengthening water conservation and sustainable management in the Rohingya-populated area.
The adviser visited the reservoir site on Saturday (January 17) afternoon and met with concerned officials to discuss the project’s progress, effectiveness, and maintenance.
During the visit, Adilur Rahman Khan said rainwater harvesting was a practical and sustainable solution to address the shortage of safe drinking water in the region. He noted that the Palangkhali reservoir would play a vital role in meeting the local population’s water needs.
He also stressed the importance of exercising voting rights, saying that casting a vote was not only a civic duty but also a constitutional right to choose one’s preferred candidate. Calling for national unity and the implementation of the July Charter, he urged citizens to go to polling centres and vote ‘Yes’.
The adviser further sought the cooperation of people from all walks of life to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful voting process.
