The 8 Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has sought the cooperation of journalists to improve the law and order situation in the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.

Speaking at a views-exchange meeting held on Wednesday (16 July) at the battalion’s conference hall, Acting Commanding Officer Superintendent of Police Riyaz Uddin Ahmed, PPM, said,

“With information support from journalists, our efforts to curb drugs, arms, and terrorism will become more effective.”

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Ukya Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Kaiser Rizvi Quoraishi, other assistant superintendents, and leaders of the Ukhiya Press Club, including its convener Saeed Mohammad Anwar, member secretary Faruk Ahmed, former general secretary Humayun Kabir Jushan, along with journalists from various national and local media outlets.

The discussion emphasized the importance of transparency in information sharing, the need for professionalism within law enforcement, and the necessity of collaborative efforts to manage the situation in the camps effectively.
