Cox’s Bazar, the country’s premier tourist destination, celebrated World Tourism Day 2025 with vibrant festivities on Saturday (September 27).
The celebrations began at 9:30 a.m. with a colorful rally organized by the District Administration, starting from the city’s Laboni Point. The rally was led by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan and joined by officials from various government departments, tourism entrepreneurs and workers, school students, and thousands of locals.
Adding color and energy to the event, the rally featured horse-drawn carriages, marching bands, and motorbikes from the tourist police. Participants, wearing bright T-shirts, marched under banners representing hotel and motel owners’ associations, the Cox’s Bazar Surfing Community, and other tourism-related organizations and institutions.
Speaking about security measures, Additional DIG Appel Mahmud, head of the Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police Region, said that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure the safety of visitors during the Tourism Day celebrations and the Puja holidays. “The entire town is in a festive mood. We’re working to make sure tourists can enjoy their vacation safely and comfortably,” he said.
Following the rally, a beach cleanup drive was conducted at several points along the shore. District administration representatives also greeted tourists at the beach with flowers as a gesture of hospitality and celebration.
