Cox’s Bazar is set to mark a significant milestone as its airport is scheduled to begin operations as a fully functional international airport in July, according to Air Vice Marshal M Mofidur Rahman Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

“This is a matter of pride for the entire nation and for all those who worked tirelessly to make this possible,” the CAAB chief said on Thursday (June 26), following a day-long workshop on the Right to Information Act held at Cox’s Bazar Airport.

Recognizing Cox’s Bazar as a globally significant tourist destination, he emphasized, “If we can successfully develop this hub, we will be able to attract foreign tourists, which will significantly strengthen the local economy.”

He also provided updates on other aviation developments, noting that cargo operations are already underway in a limited capacity in Chattogram, and that plans are moving quickly to establish a full-fledged cargo hub there soon.

The day-long training workshop was attended by officials and staff from various levels of Cox’s Bazar Airport. The sessions covered in-depth discussions on the provisions of the Right to Information Act. Later, the CAAB chairman inspected ongoing development projects at the airport.

With international operations set to launch soon, Cox’s Bazar is poised to enter a new era in both air connectivity and tourism potential.
