Crows, often overlooked, play a surprising role in maintaining cleanliness in Cox’s Bazar town. Once abundant across the coastal city, their numbers have gradually declined — yet their contribution to urban sanitation remains significant.
These birds help maintain the balance of the environment by consuming organic waste, such as rotten food, discarded scraps, and other biodegradable materials. In doing so, they aid in the natural breakdown of harmful substances and reduce the spread of filth.
However, environmentalists and city planners caution that crows alone cannot keep the city clean. Human responsibility is paramount. Citizens must dispose of waste properly, avoid littering public spaces, and support systematic waste management efforts.
Experts emphasize that absolute cleanliness requires a combined effort. “If we truly want a clean city, we must be aware of our own duties and act responsibly,” they say. Crows may lend a helping beak — but it’s up to us to take the lead.
