Bidyanondo Foundation, in partnership with Standard Chartered Bangladesh, has relaunched its innovative floating hospital, Jibonkheya

This initiative aims to provide free modern healthcare services to underserved communities across Bangladesh.

Over the next three years, the program will benefit over 100,000 marginalized patients by offering medical consultations, medicines, lab tests, nutritious meals, and sanitary pads to 100,000 adolescent girls.

Jibonkheya’s primary goal is to bring advanced healthcare services to remote and impoverished areas. The floating hospital, equipped with specialists in ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology, and general medicine, also offers pathology lab facilities, advanced eye examinations, and free eyeglasses.

The program officially launched in Thakurpara of Naikhongchhari Upazila, Bandarban, on January 7, 2025. Approximately 200 patients received free medical consultations, a week’s medicine supply, and nutritious food on the first day alone.

Mohammad Jamal Uddin, a board member of the Bidyanondo Foundation, highlighted the economic relief this initiative provides, saying that accessing healthcare often costs thousands of taka for those in remote hills or isolated islands. With funding from Standard Chartered Bangladesh, this floating hospital now delivers modern medical services directly to its doorstep. Over three years, around 150,000 people will benefit from this initiative, particularly those affected by climate change.”

The program features a dedicated medical team comprising six doctors, including gynecology, pediatrics, and ophthalmology specialists, supported by 40 volunteers. Patients receive free lab tests, medicines, and nutritional support.
