A remarkable agricultural initiative is unfolding on the island of Moheshkhali. Fazlul Karim, a local teacher, has demonstrated that determination and bold ventures can lead to success in any environment.

A year ago, Fazlul Karim began cultivating grapes in his backyard, uncertain about the results. Despite natural challenges, he nurtured his vineyard with unwavering patience. Today, his efforts have borne fruit as clusters of luscious grapes hang from the vines, symbolizing his success.

Not only is Fazlul Karim selling grapes, but he is also creating new opportunities for local farmers by distributing grape saplings.

“The soil in Maheshkhali seems ideal for grape cultivation. I have achieved this yield using only organic fertilizers, without any chemicals,” he added.

He hoped that more people would establish vineyards, increasing their income sources. This will not only benefit farmers but also reduce unemployment in Moheshkhali.

Moheshkhali Upazila Agriculture Officer, Md. Nasirul Amin, expressed keen interest in this new venture, stating that they are ready to assess the land’s suitability further and provide maximum support to farmers interested in grape cultivation.
