To mark the International Day of Older Persons, the COAST Foundation organized a daylong program on Wednesday at Lemshikhali Union in Kutubdia upazila, Cox’s Bazar. The event, held under the organization’s “Somriddhi” program, highlighted the respect, rights, and contributions of the elderly in society.

This year’s global theme — “Older persons in charge of their destinies: Resilience of older persons in a changing world” — inspired active participation from the elderly throughout the program.

The celebration featured a range of activities, including awareness discussions, motivational sessions, free health check-ups, and an honorary award ceremony recognizing exemplary elderly individuals. Participants also reflected on the life experiences, wisdom, and leadership of older persons and their crucial role in shaping a compassionate and inclusive society.

A representative of COAST Foundation remarked, “Older persons are our guides and sources of wisdom. Through their knowledge and life experiences, we aim to build a tolerant and prosperous society for future generations.”

For years, COAST Foundation has been actively working to ensure the rights, dignity, and well-being of the elderly. This year’s celebration served as an inspiring example of community engagement and respect toward the older generation in Kutubdia.
