As the scorching summer heat grips Cox’s Bazar, thousands of tourists are heading to the sea, seeking relief in the salty waves. With temperatures soaring, most tourists are immersed in the sea, particularly at the three main bathing points: Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha.
Despite early warnings of possible cyclonic activity, the sea remains calm. Red-and-yellow safety flags have been hoisted across designated bathing zones, indicating that swimming is currently safe.
The Sea Safe Lifeguard team has urged tourists to follow all safety guidelines. Only specific zones at Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni have lifeguard supervision, and bathing outside these areas could pose serious risks.
Imtiaz Ahmed, Field Team Manager of Sea Safe Lifeguard, said that red-and-yellow flags are currently in place, and the sea is calm. However, this may change in the coming days. Red flags will be hoisted if the sea becomes rough, and tourists will be advised not to enter the water.
As crowds swell in Cox’s Bazar during the peak heat, lifeguards are working around the clock to ensure that tourists can enjoy the beach safely.
