Tabith Awal has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) following a landslide victory in today’s BFF polls, which were held at the InterContinental Dhaka hotel ballroom in the capital.

A businessman and two-time former BFF vice president, Tabith secured the highest number of votes, 123. In comparison, grassroots-level sports organizer from Dinajpur district AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury got five votes during the elections, confirmed BFF’s chief election commissioner Mezbah Uddin Ahmed. 

Among 133 votes, 128 voters cast their votes, he added.

The election started at 2:00 p.m. and continued until 6:00 p.m. without any break after the elective congress held at the same venue in the morning.

A total of 45 candidates are competing for the 21 posts of the BFF executive committee- two for the president, six for four vice presidents, and 37 for 15 executive committee members.

Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, Sabbir Ahmed Arif, and Fahad Mohammed Ahmed Karim have been elected vice presidents.

Incumbent BFF vice president Imrul Hasan was elected senior vice president unopposed.
