The world’s longest sea beach has turned into a festive paradise as waves of tourists poured into Cox’s Bazar over the weekend.

With the tourism season officially underway, every stretch of the beach—from Kolatoli to Sugandha and Laboni—was teeming with cheerful tourists on Saturday morning, soaking in the sun, sand, and sea.

Mehjabeen Sultana, a tourist from Dhanmondi, Dhaka, who came with her family, shared, “Work keeps us busy all year, so this holiday was a perfect escape. Watching the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening—the beauty of Cox’s Bazar is breathtaking.”

Another tourist, Rafi Ahmed from Chattogram, said, “The sea feels calmer this time. We enjoyed swimming with friends, and it’s pleasing to see that safety arrangements are better than before.”

Mohammad Osman Gani, the supervisor of Sea Safe Lifeguard, stated, “Despite the relative calm of the sea, we have implemented red flags as a precaution.” We’re advising tourists to swim only within designated safe zones.”

Beyond beach bathing, many tourists explored the scenic Marine Drive on moonlight carts, heading toward Inani or Himchari. Some tourists took boats to Maheshkhali Island, renowned for its hills, temples, and serene natural beauty.

Tanvir Islam, a visitor from Rajshahi, said, “This is my first trip to Maheshkhali. Crossing the sea to reach an island is a thrilling new experience.”

Others chose to explore Ramu’s historic Buddhist monasteries or visit Nazirartek, a fishing village at the edge of Cox’s Bazar town.

Tourism operators say the strong turnout has revived hopes for a booming season. Hotel and resort bookings have doubled, while restaurants and local shops are enjoying brisk business.

From splashing in the salty waves to running barefoot across golden sands and capturing sunsets on camera, tourists are embracing every moment.
