Driven by dreams and confidence, young people in the Pechardwip Museum area of Cox’s Bazar are spending busy days working in agriculture.
Alongside experienced farmers, a growing number of young people are also taking an interest in farming.
A visit to Pechardwip Museum village found local farmers preparing new rice seedbeds on their farmland.
While some were preparing the fields, others were busy planting seeds.
The participation of young farmers alongside experienced agricultural workers was particularly noticeable.
Young farmers said they were taking up farming in their spare time alongside their studies and other work.
This not only provides them with an additional source of income but also strengthens their connection with agriculture.
Local young farmer Monir Hossain said he earns Tk 1,000 a day by working as a labourer planting rice seeds.
“Working in agriculture allows me to earn my income. I also dream of taking up farming more seriously and developing it further in the future,” he said.
The growing interest and participation of young people are creating new prospects for agriculture in Pechardwip.
They hope that greater access to modern technology and government support will encourage more young people to turn to farming.
