The Cox’s Bazar Fishery Ghat has become a bustling hub of activity as demand for fresh seafood surges during the tourist season.

Among all the catches, lobsters have become the main attraction, attracting both local and visiting seafood enthusiasts.

From early morning until noon, the market buzzes with the sounds of bargaining and the lively rhythm of fishermen unloading their daily catch.

Currently, small-sized lobsters are selling for Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,600 per kilogram, while larger ones fetch between Tk 2,000 and Tk 2,500, depending on size and availability.

“During the peak tourist season, lobster demand goes up sharply, and so does the price,” said Arif, a fish trader at Cox’s Bazar Fishery Ghat.

The growing popularity of seafood is also evident across the town’s prominent restaurants and hotels.

At the bustling Laboni Point, Kolatoli, and Sugandha Point areas, both domestic and international tourists are savoring mouthwatering dishes made with lobster, shrimp, rupchanda, and red snapper.

Restaurant owners say the rising influx of tourists with the onset of winter has boosted business. “We’re focusing on maintaining both quality and atmosphere to ensure a memorable dining experience,” said one restaurateur.

Locals, too, take pride in the freshness and flavor of Cox’s Bazar’s seafood. “Once someone tastes the fresh catch from our Fishery Ghat, they always want to return,” a resident said with a smile.

Despite the high prices, the allure of Cox’s Bazar’s fresh lobsters continues to captivate seafood lovers from near and far.
