Among the favourite local foods of Cox’s Bazar and the greater Chattogram region is Haisa Bichi, the seed of long beans. Widely regarded as a traditional vegetable, it becomes a seasonal favourite in local markets. Homemakers often cook it with shrimp or small fish, while others prefer it mashed with garlic and chillies. Farmers say it’s simple to grow yet highly profitable. Rich in flavour and nutrition, Haisa Bichi currently sells for Tk 80–100 per kilogramme in local markets, drawing eager buyers.
