In a proud moment for Cox’s Bazar, Nurul Absar Sikder, Assistant Professor of Cox’s Bazar City College and President of the Central Saymoon Sangsad, has been honoured with the ‘Youth Volunteer Award’ at the national level.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports organised the award, recognising 12 outstanding young individuals nationwide. Nobel Laureate and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, handed over the awards at a prestigious ceremony in Dhaka on Monday (September 15).

Nurul Absar secured second place nationwide in one of the five categories of the award. His recognition has sparked pride and joy among the people of Cox’s Bazar.

A resident of Ali’r Jahal in Cox’s Bazar town, Nurul Absar is the son of noted education enthusiast and social figure Shamsul Haque Sikder and the younger brother of prominent social activist and Jamaat leader Ruhul Amin Sikder.

Speaking after receiving the award, Nurul Absar said,

“Alhamdulillah, receiving the national ‘Youth Volunteer Award’ from our honourable Chief Adviser and Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus is a memorable milestone. I dedicate this award to the people of Cox’s Bazar, my parents, and the people of Gaza. Insha’Allah, we will celebrate this achievement together at a reception organised by Saymoon Sangsad.”

Local residents hoped his remarkable achievement would inspire young people in Cox’s Bazar and beyond and encourage them to engage in volunteerism, community service, and leadership initiatives.
