Mawlana Momtaz Ahmad, the Khatib and Imam of Panirchhara Bazar Central Jame Mosque in Ramu upazila, has been named the Best Trained Imam of Cox’s Bazar district.
He received this recognition under the Imam Training Program conducted by the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh and the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the fiscal year 2024-25, in acknowledgment of his practical application of religious education, contributions to social awareness, and value-based community guidance.
Beyond his role as Khatib, Mawlana Momtaz Ahmad is recognized as a model human being, an educator in ethics, and a social reformer. He has also served for many years at the Mamun Mia Bazar Jame Mosque in Rashidnagar, Ramu.
His clear, knowledge-based sermons, grounded in Islamic ideals, and his efforts to impart moral education to the youth have earned widespread appreciation. In particular, his tireless efforts in raising awareness against social degradation, family disputes, and drug abuse have been highly praised by the local community.
His recognition has sparked a wave of joy among the residents of the area, with many in Ward 9 of Varuakhali expressing pride in his achievement.
In his reaction, Mawlana Momtaz Ahmad said:
“I did not achieve this award alone. It was possible only through the love and support of the local worshippers and by the mercy of Allah. I am grateful and request your prayers so that I may continue to serve the cause of faith for the rest of my life.”
