Thousands of tourists thronged Cox’s Bazar Beach this weekend, seeking relief from the blazing October heat.

As temperatures soared, many visitors found comfort in the salty waves, spending most of their time soaking in the sea.

Although the sea has started to calm slightly ahead of winter, red flags have been placed at several points along the beach as a safety measure.

The majority of tourists are swimming mainly at Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha points.

For public safety, the Sea Safe Lifeguard authority has issued several guidelines. Designated swimming zones have been clearly marked at the three main points, where lifeguard services are available.

These areas are identified with red or red-and-yellow flags. Tourists have been warned that swimming beyond the marked zones could be dangerous.

Mohammad Osman, Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life, “Several deep holes have formed along the beach, and rip currents are active. The waves are also forceful. We are urging all visitors to exercise extra caution.”

On Friday (October 17), low tide is expected at 8:18 a.m., while high tide will begin around 2:41 p.m.

Officials have warned that ignoring safety flags or lifeguard instructions could lead to serious accidents at any time.
